The appointee will work in the General Education Numeracy Team and is expected to coordinate project assistants in the team, assist in planning and developing curriculums, collecting various data from daily-life situations, preparing and writing teaching materials, and performing any other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any disciplines, and with at least two years of work experience. The appointee should be self-motivated and willing to learn; have strong communication and interpersonal skills, good analytical and problem-solving abilities, and some basic computer knowledge. Good and creative writing skills in English will be an advantage.
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of one year. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review and mutual agreement. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applications are invited for a Postdoc position at the Department of Mathematics in Hong Kong Baptist University. The beginning of the appointment will start in September 2011 or shortly afterwards.
The successful Postdoc candidate should possess an excellent background in high order methods for numerical solution of PDEs for high speed flows with shocks in a high performance serial and parallel Linux cluster with MPI and/or GPU computing with CUDA. The programming language is FORTRAN95. The applicant should have practical and strong mathematical understanding of advanced numerical methods. Knowledge in spectral methods and high order WENO methods is highly desirable. The main project is on the numerical study of compressible Richmyter-Meshkov instability and Rayleigh-Taylor instability governed by the full Navier-Stokes equation in general curvilinear coordinates using high order hybrid numerical methods.
The candidate should be a quick learner, mature, and possesses strong will to learn new things and to tackle new challenges independently. Strong English writing and communication skills are required.
The initial appointment of the Postdoc position will be one year and renewable for another year, subject to mutual agreement, satisfaction of the progress and availability of funds.
