Café Mathématique Special: A talk on actuarial careers by Mark Heller, Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science, University of Kent

Are you interested to know how a mathematics degree can help you in becoming actuaries? Do you want to meet a mathematics graduate with extensive experience in the industry? This talk will be a unique opportunity for you to hear from an academic/practitioner in actuarial science about careers and how further study can help. So come and be inspired if you want to know more. We welcome all undergraduates and master students!

About the speaker: Mark joined the University of Kent in 2008 after spending nearly 20 years working in the industry. A First Class Honours Maths graduate, he qualified as an actuary with Sun Life (later AXA) in 1995. While working in the Life Insurance industry he gained experience in a wide range of different areas, including project work with McKinsey and Co, Senior Pricing Actuary and Business Assistant to the Chief Executive. Mark is the School's Employability Officer and has extensive recruitment and vocational skills experience, providing employability skills coaching and development to students.
