• LUO Yuanhang (Year 4) as one of the team members received an Meritorious Winner in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) 2023.
• XU Xin (Year 3) was the winner of the Hong Kong and Macau 2023 Inter-University French Speech Competition on 24 Mar 2023.
• XU Xin (Year 3) and her teammates won the championship of the RTHK College Cup Mandarin Debate Competition 香港電台大專普通話辯論 on 1 Nov 2022.
• Kwan Ting FOK (graduate of HKBU BSc Math and Stat) and her team received awards at the Fintech Olympiad 2022. The team achieved the Award of Merit, as one of the top three runners-up, and the Award of Distinction. (Jun 22). (Details)

• Our undergraduate students, Muratzhan KYRANBAY and WANG Luwei won the Stonehage Fleming/Marais prizes in the international Simon Marais Mathematics Competition, in October 2019.

• Our undergraduate students, Zizhen Song, Keli Guo, and Zhongli Jiang received Honorable Mention Prize in MCM/ICM Contest 2016.

• 柳明坤 Mingkun Liu (Mathematics, Year 3) recently received a scholarship of 36,000 euros to pursue his studies in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program at École Polytechnique in France starting September 2015. Mingkun is the only tertiary student in Hong Kong who was selected this year. (HKBU eNews)
• Three Mathematics students: Jiwen You (BSc (Hons.) in Statistics and Operations Research), Haoyu Liu (BSc (Hons.) in Statistics and Operations Research) and Zhouming Xu (BSc (Hons.) in Statistics and Operations Research) with Faculty Advisor Prof. Li-Zhi Liao was designated as Honorable Mention in 2015 Mathematical Contest in Modeling.
• Jiang Yang (Mathematics, PhD) was awarded Second Student Paper Prize from East Asia section of SIAM (EASIAM), at Ambassador City Hotel, Jomtien, Pattaya, Chonburi, Thailand. The ranks were determined in the EASIAM 2014 after the winners present their papers in a special session of the conference.

• Our undergraduate student, Tak Wa Ng received The Baptist Convention of Hong Kong Outstanding Student Awards 2012/13.
• Xiaozhou Pu (Mathematics BSc, Year 1) as one of the team members received an Honourable Mention in the 2013 Mathematical Contest in Modeling for 2012/13.
• In the Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling an extension of the mathematical contest Bai Yang (Mathematics BSc, Year 3) Liu Liu (Mathematics BSc, Year 3) and Liyang Yin (Mathematics BSc, Year 3) won an Honourable Mention for 2012/13.
• Lin Dong (Mathematics BSc, Year 1) won the 2nd runner-up award in choral speaking (prose category) at the 9th Hong Kong Inter-Tertiary Institution Putonghua Recitation Contest for 2012/13.
• Our undergraduate students, Lin Dong and Wenqian Wang received Meritorious Winner of the 2013 Mathematical Contest in Modeling.
• Dr. Leihong Zhang (PhD graduate) was awarded the Applied Numerical Algebra Prize for his outstanding academic paper at the Fourth International Conference on Numerical Algebra and Scientific Computing (NASC 2012) held in October 2012. [pdf]

• Our undergraduate student, LEE Ming Hei, received Mr. Koo Ming Kown Scholarships.
• Ms. Yumei Huang, PhD student, won the Best Student Paper Award of the International Conference on Applied Mathematics: Modeling, Analysis and Computation, organized by City University of Hong Kong. There are three winners of this award.
• Mr. Guanghui Hu , PhD student, won the first prize in 2007 Paper Competition for Young Computational Mathematicans organized by the China Society for Computational Mathematics.
• Mr. Heyu Wang, PhD student, won the second prize in 2007 Paper Competition for Young Computational Mathematicans organized by the China Society for Computational Mathematics.
• In the 8th National Conference on Computational Mathematics held in Sichuan University from October 9-13, 2007, 30 postgraduate students participated in the Postgraduate Student Paper competition. Our PhD students Guanghui Hu is one of the three first prize winners and Heyu Wang is one of the three second prize winners.
• In The 3rd East Asia SIAM Conference held in Xiamen University from November 2-5, 2007, our PhD student Yumei Huang received the second prize in the EASIAM Student Paper Prize competition.
• Congratulations to Xie Lu, a year 2 Mathematics student selected for the training sessions in preparation for the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) Programme 2007. HNMUN is a collegiate United Nations model staffed by Harvard College undergraduates. It has over 50 years of history and is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious simulation of its kind.
• Mr. Po Ching-fung, a year 3 Maths student (06-07), won a second prize in the 4th Intervarsity Creative Writing Competition orgainized by the University's Arts Faculty and Language Centre.
• Mr. Ho Man Ho has been accepted by the University of Manchester, England to study a graduate programme in Pure Mathematics.
• Mr. Choy Siu Kai, awarded the Huang Hong Ci Prize for outstanding performance in the MSc dissertation for the MSc in Scientific Computing course.
• Our undergraduate students received graduate fellowships: Ms. XIANG Ming will study at University of North Carolina, USA and Ms. KANG Jing will study at University of Warwick, UK, 2005.
• Mr. Kong Wai Kin (class1998) through to the final 12 in the "Young Inventors Award", the only Hong Kong entry to make the final round of this prestigious Asian competition, 2004.
• Our undergraduate students receive graduate fellowships/scholarships: Mr. HUANG Yanghong was admitted by UCLA's PhD program under the supervision of Member of National Academy Professor Stanley Osher; Mr. WU Jianhua was admitted by the PhD program of the University of Sussex, England.
• Our undergraduate students receive graduate fellowships/scholarships: Mr. FAN Kai will study at University of North Carolina, USA and Mr. WANG Yuliang will study at Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2003.
• Mr. Fan Kai, Wong Yee Man, and Yang Kangle, won the Meritorius award in COMAP's Mathematical Contest in Modelling competition, 2003.
• Mr. Lee Ming Ki, awarded the exchange LEWI studentship to study at Leeds University in 2002-03.
• Undergraduate student Mr. LI Dong has been admitted by Princeton University's PhD program and also awarded a highly desirable "Centennial Fellowship", 2002.
• Undergraduate student Ms. WU Tongtong has been admitted by the PhD program of University of California, Los Angelas (UCLA) with a research assistantship, 2002.
• Mr. Leung Wai Fan, awarded the Huang Hong Ci Prize for outstanding performance in the MSc dissertation for the MSc in Scientific Computing course.
