is a modern metropolis influenced by both oriental and western
cultures and home to over 6 million people. The native
tongue of most residents is Cantonese, but English and Mandarin
speakers can get around easily. The local currency has
an approximate exchange rate of HK$7.8 to US$1.
Local Travel Hong Kong has
an excellent public transportation
system consisting of trains, buses and taxis. Generally,
frequency of service is every few minutes. The Hong Kong
Baptist University is a short walk from the Kowloon Tong underground
subway (MTR) and railway (KCR) interchange.
Climate Hong Kong's climate
is sub-tropical, tending towards temperate for nearly half the
year. Air-conditioning is very popular in Hong Kong. Thus, we
recommend you to bring a sweater or jacket with you. The table

Internation Travel & Visas
Visitors to Hong Kong from some countries require visas.
If you are in doubt, please contact the Chinese Consulate nearest
you. Some conference participants may wish to visit the
Chinese Mainland before or after the conference. All foreigners
visiting the Mainland require a visa, which may be obtained
from the Chinese Consulate. However, for short trips to
the Mainland you may obtain a tourist visa in Hong Kong within
a matter of a few days.
