International Workshop on
Applied Mathematics and Statistics

Purpose:

After serving at Hong Kong Baptist University for 19 years Professor Fred J. Hickernell will be leaving Hong Kong in early 2005. Since 1985 Prof. Hickernell has worked to advance Hong Kong Baptist University and to develop applied mathematics and statistics in Hong Kong. His research has contributed to a better understanding of numerical evaluation of multiple integrals and the design of experiments. Prof. Hickernell has mentored many students and organized several international conferences to promote the interchange of academic ideas between scholars in Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and overseas. This one-day workshop will bring together experts in applied mathematics and statistics to discuss recent research.
