Students Achievements

  • Ms. Yumei Huang, PhD student, won the Best Student Paper Award of the International Conference on Applied Mathematics: Modeling, Analysis and Computation, organized by City University of Hong Kong. There are three winners of this award.
  • Mr. Hu Guanghui, PhD student, won the first prize in 2007 Paper Competition for Young Computational Mathematicans organized by the China Society for Computational Mathematics.
  • Mr. Wang Heyu, PhD student, won the second prize in 2007 Paper Competition for Young Computational Mathematicans organized by the China Society for Computational Mathematics.
  • In the 8th National Conference on Computational Mathematics held in Sichuan University from October 9-13, 2007, 30 postgraduate students participated in the Postgraduate Student Paper competition. Our PhD students HU Guanghui is one of the three first prize winners and WANG Heyu is one of the three second prize winners.
  • In The 3rd East Asia SIAM Conference held in Xiamen University from November 2-5, 2007, our PhD student Huang Yumei received the second prize in the EASIAM Student Paper Prize competition.
  • Congratulations to Xie Lu, a year 2 Mathematics student selected for the training sessions in preparation for the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) Programme 2007. HNMUN is a collegiate United Nations model staffed by Harvard College undergraduates. It has over 50 years of history and is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious simulation of its kind.
  • Mr. Po Ching-fung, a year 3 Maths student (06-07), won a second prize in the 4th Intervarsity Creative Writing Competition orgainized by the University's Arts Faculty and Language Centre.
  • Mr. Ho Man Ho has been accepted by the University of Manchester, England to study a graduate programme in Pure Mathematics.
  • Mr. Choy Siu Kai, awarded the Huang Hong Ci Prize for outstanding performance in the MSc dissertation for the MSc in Scientific Computing course.
  • Our undergraduate students receive graduate fellowships: Ms. XIANG Ming will study at University of North Carolina, USA and Ms. KANG Jing will study at University of Warwick, UK, 2005.
  • Mr. Kong Wai Kin (class1998) through to the final 12 in the "Young Inventors Award", the only Hong Kong entry to make the final round of this prestigious Asian competition, 2004. (Details)
  • Our undergraduate students receive graduate fellowships/scholarships: Mr. HUANG Yanghong was admitted by UCLA's PhD program under the supervision of Member of National Academy Professor Stanley Osher; Mr. WU Jianhua was admitted by the PhD program of the University of Sussex, England.
  • Our undergraduate students receive graduate fellowships/scholarships: Mr. FAN Kai will study at University of North Carolina, USA and Mr. WANG Yuliang will study at Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2003.
  • Mr. Fan Kai, Wong Yee Man, and Yang Kangle, won the Meritorius award in COMAP's Mathematical Contest in Modelling competition, 2003.
  • Mr. Lee Ming Ki, awarded the exchange LEWI studentship to study at Leeds University in 2002-03.
  • Undergraduate student Mr. LI Dong has been admitted by Princeton University's PhD program and also awarded a highly desirable "Centennial Fellowship", 2002.
  • Undergraduate student Ms. WU Tongtong has been admitted by the PhD program of University of California, Los Angelas (UCLA) with a research assistantship, 2002.
  • Mr. Leung Wai Fan, awarded the Huang Hong Ci Prize for outstanding performance in the MSc dissertation for the MSc in Scientific Computing course.
